1. Read, highlight and annotate “The Magic of TheFamily Meal” by Nancy Gibbs. Complete a SOAPS Sheet and an academic summary
using academic verbs.
3 2. Write 20 sentences using the academic verbs on
the front board or on your academic verbs sheet.

Thanksgiving Times provides time for us to
reconnect with family. During the Thanksgiving Break, you will make an
appointment with a family member and you will conduct an interview with them.
You will record the interview using your phone. Your interview will be either
about the Thanksgiving season, or what they feel America stands for, or are
they still proud to be American? Think about and WRITE down several questions. Remember the four important
tips—
a.
Your question should be about an important
subject
b.
Ask open-ended questions to keep the
conversation going.
c.
Follow-up with more questions (which means you
must pay attention!)
d. You should ask your interviewee approximately 8-10 big idea question, enough to produce a conversation between twenty to thirty minutes.
