Good Morning. Your class assignment for Friday, March 4th is to respond:
Do you feel Cassius makes a strong case to Brutus, or his Cassius argument mainly based on fallacies? Discuss your feelings using textual support and knowledge of the fallacies we have learned. Your academic response should be at least 2 paragraphs.

Dear Period 1 ERWC Students,
Immediately begin working on translating the three major speech acts of the Fool to King Lear. You need to: paraphrase the Fools humor and wit. What does he say when he begins, "Have more than thou owes't; speak less than thou know'st...etc? What does he mean with the egg metaphor? The snail metaphor? Your translation/summary should be at least 2-3 full paragraphs. Be ready to discuss and have a possible RQ on Monday!

ERWC Period 1

1. Continue your draft of the poem Nikki Rosa by Nikki Giovanni, writing from the point of view of any single character from King Lear. Be prepared to share at least a portion of your poem. Neatly handwrite or type your poem.
2. Be sure to have three reading journals based on your novel (or any text, if you have finished your novel).
3. Please respond to the following study questions: 1. What political upheaval reaches the castle of Gloucester? 2. Why does Edmund injure himself and draw blood? 3. How does Gloucester react when he learns about Edgar's alleged intentions to attach and murder him? What does he say? How does the conversation between Gloucester and Edmund, following Edgar's escape, signal a reversal of the relationship that Edgar and Edmund have with their father? How does Gloucester's expression, "my old heart is crack'd, is crack'd" illustrate the paralled between Gloucester and Lear when it comes to old age and their relatioships with their children?

What does she claim is going on, and how does she intend to but Lear in check? 3. What evidence is there that Lear is beginning to regret his actions toward Cordelia? Quote a line that he says as evidence. 4. What is a kite? Why does Lear compare Goneril to one? 5. By whipping Oswald, Goneril's steward, what are Lear and Kent saying or implying indirectly to Goneril? 6. What message does Goneril intend to communicate with her sister Regan in a letter? 7. Why does Lear write a letter to Regan as well? What does he want to say or tell her? 8. What does Edmund learn from Curan? Who was going to make a visit that evening? 9. In addition to the forged letter, what else does Edmund do to turn his father Gloucester against his son Edgar?
