American Literature Periods 1,3,4

Period 1: Carefully read the short essay "Address On the Occasion of 50th Anniversary of The Statue of Liberty" by Franklin D. Roosevelt (pg 10-11). It is included in the Study Sync Unit #1 under Class Readings and Handouts, so you MUST STILL READ even if you were absent!!!! After Reading, answer questions 1-3 on the back of the handout (page 11) Second Read.
2. Complete the Pronoun Activity the handout I gave and the online activity above!
3. Saturday or Sunday freewrite, if desired!
4. Explore mypronouns.org and take notes (period 1 and 3)

American Literature Period 1

Select a topic or theme of interest to you! Then write ONE paragraph in the mode of your team (the group teams were assigned when we did the jigsaw assignment).  Then, write ANOTHER paragraph-- it can be on the same topic--it does not have to be-- Using another mode. Remember, the modes are: Narration; Exemplification; Negation; Compare; Classification; Contrast; Process; Analogy; Description. Both of your paragraphs MUST be neat, well-written and at least 5-6 sentences per paragraph OR MORE depending on your subject.

American Literature Periods 3 AND 4

1. Re-read the Address on the occasion of the "Fiftieth Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty" by President Franklin D. Roosevelt answers questions 1,2 and 3 under Second Read.
2. Construct ten (10) sentences with the Verbs written down in class, or those written down from the front board.
3. Period 3 Only: Complete BOTH sides of the Pronoun Handout.
4. Period 4 Only: Don't forget to translate sentence by sentence paragraphs 6&7 of the speech from President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Also, don't forget your SOAPS from your Article of the week and your Academic Summary Paragraph based on your reading!
