Ap English Literature Period 1

1. Look under Websites of Interest on the Right hand side. Click on the link The Poem as Life. This will take you to a google document for your homework assignment. Carefully read and annotate the document "The Poem As Life" as retyped by myself. Pay special attention to the different types of life that poems often reflect. Also read, and re-read the poem Living in Sin and re-read the poem given to you on Friday.

Write out answers to the following: What act(s) or public does the poem "Living in Sin" by Adrienne Rich (this is the poem you had but I removed the title).
2. Why is "Living In Sin" a poem to you?
3. Re-read your defintions: metaphor, figurative language; symbol; structure; narrative poem, plot diagram. Bring both poems to class on Monday.

AP English Literature

I didn't forget about the homework. Please check back tomorrow (Saturday by 9.a.m). The homework will be a combination of reading a handout prepared in Google Docs about Poetry, why poetry is written and the types and forms of poetry. You will need to read and annotate this handout, and be prepared for a short quiz on it. We will probably return to Things Fall Apart for a grand conversation about it and the final chapters of the novel on Tuesday (our block day).
