1. Prepare a brief one pager in which you research and answer the followingL What is the actual setting for Things Fall Apart? (that is, in what country, and continent does the story take place, and at what time)?
2. Finish completing your scales using the concept "Justice". Then, write a one page response answering the following: How is the concept of Justice present in the lives of the characters in Things Fall Apart? You may discuss clear cases where justice is served, or discuss cases in which injustice is perpetrated. Can justice ever be constant?
3. Answer the following questions: Why did Okonkwo tell the boys stories of violence and bloodshed? What stories were you told as a child, which now seem to exist for a larger purpose? What is that purpose? Why do you think Okonkwo particpates in the killing of Ikemefuna? Why do you think this part of the story is told? for what purpose? What message do you think Achebe wants us to get from Ikemefuna's brief stay with Okonkwo and his family? Why is it significant that Okonkwo was warned not to participate in the killing of Ikemefuna? What does this reveal about the chracter, so to speak of the village? Why is Okonkwo so fond of Enzima, and of her mother, Ekwefi?
