Students Entering 12th grade AP English Literature

All twelfth grade students taking twelfth grade AP English Literature will be assessed on the following literary terms within the first week of school: Metaphor, Simile; Personification; Hyperbole Oxymoron; Paradox, Irony; Sarcasm Tone; Mood; Shift; Speaker; Audience; Purpose Setting; Character; Point of View Please review these literary terms over the summer. On the first day of class you will have an asssesment!

Summer Reading Assignment for students entering AP English Language and Honors American Literature

Attention Students: There is a Summer Reading Assignment for AP English Langauge and Honors American Literature. The First is a quiz on the Literary Terms Handout distributed in class. If you do not have this sheet; check back.I will try to upload it by July 1st. If not, please contact Mrs. Baucham-Rice and Mr. Monaco. Second, read the text Stiff by Mary Roach. You are to: 1. Create a bibliography entry for the novel. 2. Then, explain the meaning of the title. Why is it a powerful title for the novel? 3. Stiff has twelve chapters and an image before each chapter. You will divide the chapters into three sections: Chapter 1-4, 5-8 and 9-12. After you finish reading each section, select one image and chapter per section. Then explain the significance of the image to the chapter and integrate a supportive quote from the chapter to support your opinion. This is due on the first day of school: August 14, 2012
