1. Finish Chapter 9 of The Narrative of Frederick Douglass then respond: 1. Why does the death of masters cause worry, and concern for Frederick and most other slaves? 2. What motif or pattern does Frederick emphasize by his description of the valuation? 3. Explain the cruel irony in the treatment of Frederick's grandmother. 4. Describe how more and more, Frederick is different from other slaves. Your response should be a paragraph.

1. Continue typing your draft of your Autobiographical Incident for Chapter 1. Your Final Draft of Chapter 1 is due on Wednesday. It must be typed. Please read it out loud!

1. Complete your Before and After Open Minds for the character Sophia
Auld. Remember to include descriptions, images, symbols, actions
inactions and quotes on both sides of the open mind. Please include a
quote that counts as a defining moment in the middle of the open mind.
Be sure to color! Be imaginative!
