Happy New Year and Welcome to the Second Semester! We have much to do today and this semester! Today, we will dig right in to four articles of the week! Specifically, we will read 4 short texts related to the impending teacher strike, and then analyze for Speaker; Subject; Audience: Purpose and Appeals. After analyzing each text, we will decide which text was the most successful at reaching its goals. We will also write to the prompt--how does each text present a differ view of a Teacher Strike?
Of course, we will review rules, and routines, and the semester learning targets and texts. We will use IXL in order to prepare us in part for the Smarter Balanced Test in April. We will also have a little fun! Former President Barack Obama released his favorites of 2018. Read his here:

What/Who are your favorite songs; new artists, movies, novels or articles of the week; social media happenings; political developments? You will create your top five with a justification for each title on your list!
