Engilsh Ten Period 2
Read Chapters 7 and 8 of The Autobiography of Dick Gregory. Respond to the Following Questions: 1. How did segregation harm or impact Richard’s relationship with his track team peers?
2. Why do you think it was difficult for Richard to talk about it Why do you think Richard’s white friends didn’t understand it anyways? Afterall, they knew about it. Do you think it was easier for them to “sweep it under the rug?” Why?
3. Provide one example in chapter 7 that Richard become restless with his situation as a disenfranchised African-American.
4. Describe life for Richard and other black students at university. (Be brief… a paragraph)
5. Why does Richard feel guilty when his mother dies? Do you think his feelings are true?
6. Select a meaningful, thought provoking quote from chapter 8.
